Elevate Your Landscape Photos By Doing This One Thing
Apr 19, 2022"What's the one thing I can do to make my landscape photos look better?" Whoa! That's a loaded question and has many different answers, but it's a question I get asked a lot.
Landscape photography is a journey of learning, applying that knowledge through practice and then fine-tuning a skill. Style and vision will also play a significant role in creating an image when immersed in a landscape scene. The meandering of this beautiful genre is a very individual process and always unique. However, there is one thing that every landscape photographer should strive to do given the right scene when seeking a better visual image.

Photographs are two-dimensional. Photographers aiming to create visually compelling images should try and use compositional elements to enhance depth within an image. This depth brings an image to life and infuses a three-dimensional, more relatable, real-life feeling.
There are many different ways depth can be infused into an image; however, the most straightforward and elementary tip is to include a foreground, middle ground and background element within the composition of your photos.
Refer to the image above. The rocks and reflecting pool sits in the foreground of the photo, while the water and trees take up the middle ground, and the mountain as the main subject fills the image's background. Had the composition cropped out the foreground reflecting pool, I do not think this image would have been as life-like.
Regardless of what camera you are using, try and capture images with foreground, middle ground and background elements. This simple technique will elevate your photos to a higher visual level.
